CE — Prevention
An event preventing the Contractor from completing the works by the Completion Date which neither party could prevent. The CE applies if the event is not listed elsewhere.
This is a catch-all prevention event. It covers exceptional circumstances that prevent performance but do not fit any other CE category.
The Contractor must show the event was genuinely unpreventable by either party. Events within the Contractor's control or foreseeable with proper management do not qualify.
