Clause 86.2

Client's Insurance Responsibility Unchanged

Purpose

The Contractor's acceptance of an insurance certificate provided by the Client does not change the responsibility of the Client to provide the insurances stated in the Contract Data.

Practical Application

Even if the Contractor accepts a Client-provided insurance certificate as compliant, the Client remains responsible for maintaining the cover. Acceptance does not transfer liability to the Contractor.

Common Pitfalls

The Contractor should periodically check that the Client's insurances remain in force throughout the project. Acceptance of a single certificate does not guarantee ongoing cover.
