Clause 73.1

Objects and Materials — Fossils and Antiquities

Purpose

If the Contractor finds objects of value or interest (e.g., fossils, coins, antiquities, or structures) on the Site, the Contractor notifies the PM. The PM instructs how to deal with them.

Practical Application

Found objects are the Employer's property. The Contractor stops work in the affected area and follows the PM's instructions. The instruction is a CE.

Common Pitfalls

The Contractor must not remove or disturb found objects without PM instruction. Unauthorised removal may breach the contract and applicable law.
